Pop superstar Michael Jackson has died. The singer suffered a cardiac arrest at his home and arrived at UCLA Medical Center, where he was declared dead. We look back at the legendary artist's career in pictures from when he starred as one of the Jackson 5 in the 70s to his recent announcement at the O2 arena, where he planned to play a series of gigs.

Although Jacko (bottom left) was 11 years old when he first found fame with the Jackson 5, his management repeatedly claimed he was two years younger to maximise his appeal. The band's hits included I Want You Back and ABC.

In 1972, Michael Jackson's face was well known to music fans thanks to his position as the lead vocalist of the hit-group, The Jackson 5. Although the family band's success declined after this year, young Michael's solo career was just beginning.
